Welcome to United States History!
The purpose of this course is to present United States History curriculum in a critical and analytical method. The memorization of facts is not the goal of the course or in a broader sense, a goal of learning - it is only the beginning of understanding.
The United States History course is a one-year study of the political, economic, and social development of the United States. This survey course provides and overview of the nation's history, beginning with the Age of Discovery and concludes with recent 20th Century events. Students will be expected to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the material through both oral and written work.
The class will be conducted as a discussion group, focusing on lectures, readings, and basic factual material studied inside and outside of class. Students will respect the right of all students to express their opinions even if that opinion is different from their own.
Effective listening is as great a skill as effective speaking.
Each student is expected to participate in class discussions and other class activities. Each student's input is important and needed to establish a "3-D" classroom.
Please use this website as a resource and guide as you work through United States History.
